Question answer
In 2022, Western sanctions significantly impacted the ability to organize international cargo transportation. Road and air traffic in the European direction turned out to be blocked, and many transnational sea carriers stopped working with Russia. Sanctions on road transport affected the procedure for passing through customs posts and cargo clearance. Thus, the previous logistics chains collapsed, and the delivery of goods along the usual routes turned out to be impossible. Meanwhile, companies have a need to transport goods abroad and back. And logistics, of course, is being restructured to meet the needs of clients.
We are often asked the question: “How to deliver cargo bypassing sanctions?” There is no general answer to this, since now each transportation represents a unique scheme, taking into account current external circumstances. A solution that worked a week ago may not work for transportation to the same destination a month later. For example, cargo that previously went to Europe through the Baltic sea gates is now sent through Far Eastern ports. Today we are considering Turkey, Iran, China, and the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) as transit points.
For each specific task, we invent an individual solution, working through all possible transport and logistics chains. We are looking for new routes and delivery methods. This, unfortunately, requires more time to calculate the rate. The transportation budget itself and the transit period may also increase in comparison with the usual scheme, which is associated with the complication of the logistics chain and additional transport costs. This is the new reality, and our job as forwarders is to offer an effective solution and achieve the result, that is, deliver the cargo to the recipient.
The impact of sanctions is also restrictions on a number of imported and exported goods. Restrictions have been introduced by the EU, USA, UK, Canada, Singapore, Japan, Switzerland and Australia. What goods are subject to sanctions? The list of items prohibited for export to Russia includes industrial equipment, vehicles, engines, metal and wood products, textiles, food ingredients, luxury goods, etc. The full list of sanctioned goods, compiled on the basis of the legal acts of the listed countries, can be found on the website of the WTO Center of Expertise https://wto.ru/uchastnikam-ved-sanktsii.

Classification of dangerous goods according to the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR): Class 1 - Explosives and articles. Class 2 – Gases. Class 3 - Flammable liquids. Class 4 - Flammable solids, self-reactive substances and desensitized solid explosives. Class 5 - Oxidizing substances. Class 6 - Poisonous and infectious substances. Class 7 - Radioactive materials. Class 8 - Corrosive substances. Class 9 - Other dangerous substances and products. Transportation of dangerous goods is regulated by international and national legislation. There are requirements for packaging, the maximum amount of cargo allowed, and the types of cargo that can or cannot be carried in one vehicle. We transport dangerous goods in compliance with all legal standards.
The safety data sheet is a mandatory document for the transportation of dangerous goods. It contains information about the conditions of storage, use, transportation, precautions for handling and disposal of dangerous goods. The safety data sheet must be completed in accordance with the rules and included in the package of accompanying documentation presented at customs. For international transport, the safety data sheet may also be required in English.
